    Great video Desi! That is a lot of stuff to learn. Any tips on how to remember all the song parts and changes and lead parts? Do you use any memory aids?

      I use lots of memory aids. I'm always thinking about the key and how things connect. I tap my foot and count breaks. I could do a whole lesson on what goes through my mind. It would be similar to my How Does This Song Work breakdowns.

    hello desi. i usually like to listen to you while doing sport, it is practical. but this podcast needs video. i got mostly what you have explained , but a visual would be needed. i want to add that the more i listen to you, the more amazed i am what an extraordinary guitarist and juke box you are. so clean in your playing . i would like sometime to be able to play half as good as you. but i am old 52 and very low on the intermediate scale, but i do what i can

    Easton talks about the mystery of that lick in this video, at about the 8:30 mark <ruclips.net/video/5jAvzeQER4M/видео.html>. He confirms that it's about chord substitutions, and I think a part of the reason he does it (though he doesn't say) is he sometimes throws in some of the other notes of these relative minor chords. For example, in this vid, the first time he demos it I hear him adding a *double-stop* on that first note in the C#m position - he plays the G# below in addition to the E. I hear this in other variants and live versions he's done.

    • @ericthompson2018
      @ericthompson2018 20 дней назад

      I see people have posted that video before. But listen right at 8:34, I hear a double-stop there.

    I recently completed the Desi Serna essential song pack bundle and was adding this song to my repartee. I watched a video from a Angela Partelli and she did a great job of teaching the song, but she never mentioned the rhythm. She just said that the cord changes for the intro are done with an upstroke. I was having a tough time because something just seemed off. Now after Desi’s video it makes sense and I get it. Thanks again Desi!

    Great video! As soon as you explained this on the up beat, I heard this immediately. Like you, I personally would come in on the 4 and as this just adds a little flavor and push into the bar. In my opinion this sounds better as well.. Such a fun timeless song. Thanks for sharing! I've also noticed this type of push rhythm in the folk genre a bit.
